It hangs from whatever is already there: a curtain rail, a couple of hooks, or a run of adhesive tape along the top of a frame. There is nothing to screw in.
The LEDs run at low voltage and stay cool, which is why the strands can sit against a curtain without a second thought. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so there are no batteries to keep replacing.
It is an indoor light. Under a covered porch is fine; open weather is not, and an Irish winter will find its way into anything left out in it.
